Alternate Solutions Deploys Private Fiber Optic Network for Major Aerospace Defense Contractor

CHALLENGE

Alternate Solutions played a key role in the major telecommunications upgrade of one of the largest aerospace defense contractors.


SOLUTION

The multi-faceted upgrade was composed of many components. Back to back upgrades were performed in two states. New phone servers were installed as well as the supporting infrastructure.


Using the Avaya phone system, the networking infrastructure was built on Extreme Networks switches. The network upgrade spanned a campus comprised of 7 buildings over 10 square miles and approximately 15 miles of fiber optic cable with approximately 5000 endpoints. Alternate Solutions installed and configured all the Extreme switches for the fiber optic deployment and was the lead technical resource for the deployment of the new phone system.


BENEFIT

The fiber optic upgrade allowed the contractor to save over $200,000 annually in bills from the previous installation while providing 320% additional capacity to the current systems.



Alternate Solutions Upgrades Technology Platform for a Next-Generation Food Manufacturing Company

CHALLENGE

Teawolf is an ingredient manufacturing company dedicated to servicing the constantly evolving food and beverage industry. The company offers a broad range of products, from its signature tea and wolfberry products, to a line of vanilla and chocolate products.


Alternate Solutions created a versatile telephone and computer network that would allow Teawolf streamlined communication with the ability to instantly collaborate. With offices in New Jersey and Canada and a mobile sales force its imperative that instant communication, streamlined movement of documentation be available to all employees at every level.


SOLUTION

The voice platform chosen was the Avaya IP Office. This system provided the ability for various end-users to travel between branch offices or from mobile laptops to communicate without landlines or toll calls when calling within the network regardless of geographical location.


A hybrid cloud solution is being used for the Data network. With the typical concerns of network design – business continuity, disaster recovery and system functionality. Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange are at the core of this design. For Teawolf, we designed the system with offsite storage that backs up to datacenters both here in the US and Canada.


BENEFIT

This platform provided a ROI within in one year of operation. The system also allows for growth, if a new branch office needs to be launched this system is able to connect to another branch office easily and effectively. The data that is stored offsite and can be restored back to a new server quickly and effectively giving Teawolf the ability to manage their IT systems locally and at the same time take advantage of a cloud based backup solution.
